What bride doesn’t want to get in shape for the big day and shed a few pounds? I know this has been at the top of my list since the engagement, but I must admit it’s been hard for me so far. I’ve always been a pretty active person and ate right, but somehow I’ve slowly gained that extra 3 pounds every year that I haven’t been able to get rid of. I wasn’t sure how to get back to that pre-college weight, so I sought the advice from my friend who is also a vegan and avid nutritionist. She explained to me that a lot of the factors that go into gaining weight over the years aren’t always diet and exercise related. Some of it could be stress, hormones, allergies etc. caused by toxins in the body. She explained how some of the foods that we eat such as dairy products and meat are processed with other chemicals that can create these toxins in the body that build up over time and have an overall effect on our well-being. She recommended that I do a full body detox to rid myself of all of the built up toxins. She explained that when you do this, you’re basically restarting your body. It should allow you to shed the extra weight by cleansing your blood, cardiovascular system, liver and gall bladder, lungs, kidneys and bladder, and colon. The results after detoxifying include more resilient skin and complexion, weight loss (10-50 pounds), less headaches, more energy, clearer sense of feeling and thinking; a more positive outlook on life, more willpower; less diseases and sicknesses throughout the year, and many more wonderful things.
The detox requires me to eat raw fruits and vegetables along with a select few whole grain foods for 20 days. Throughout this 20 days I'll be taking a series of herbal supplements that are known to target the areas in the body previously mentioned. Its going to be hard for a girl that loves her cheese and pasta, but I think its worth a try! We change the oil in our cars every 3,000 miles, why not do the same for ourselves! My hope in doing this is to feel rejuvenated, rethink the way I eat, and boost my overall health. Losing weight is just a bonus, but should help me kick start my workout routine. I start my detox next week, and I’ll be sure to keep you posted on the results.
Wish me luck!
