Yikes! A Ft. Collins, CO bridal shop closed down without notice this month, leaving 51 customers without wedding gowns for their upcoming weddings. I've heard of this happening before at stores who close without warning, and feel awful for the brides that it affects! Planning a wedding is stressful enough without worrying whether you will ever see the wedding gown you've already ordered and paid for. Here in Central Florida, I have seen our amazing bridal community reach out and help brides who encounter situations like these. Hopefully the Ft. Collins, CO area bridal vendors will do the same and assist these 51 brides in carrying out their wedding planning and attire needs. Story from the Associated Press below:
Police and employees of the bridal shop are working with the brides to find an appropriate dress from 50 sample dresses seized from the store, Davis said. Only one bride has taken a dress, while two have chosen veils.
A call Wednesday to a number listed for store owner Patty Burling was unanswered and the voice mailbox was full. The Coloradoan newspaper reported a similar occurrence involving prom dresses at a shop owned by Burling in Glenrock, Wyo., that closed earlier this year.
In a separate story, the Coloradoan interviewed brides who had complaints about the store, including one who has decided to postpone her August wedding until next spring because she didn't receive her $1,700 gown.
