The traditional signing of the guest book is a fabulous idea but the bride and groom tend to stash it away after the wedding day when it could become a valued keepsake! A guest book is great way to keep well-wishes from family members and friends, advice from loved ones and a laugh or two remembering great times in the past and the best times to come.
One option many brides are loving is to use a video or photo booth on their wedding day. Many companies offer a photo booth that will immediately print pictures out and have a scrapbook waiting near by so your guests can click, print, write a cute note or funny story and at the end of the night, you have a wedding scrapbook awaiting you.
Companies like Orlando-based Imprint Cinema now offer video booths where guests can leave a filmed messages for the bride and groom to be edited into a special video the couple will receive after the wedding. Not only is it sentimental value but it's also a blast for guests!

Another popular trend is the Wishing Tree! Have custom tags made that your guests write their wishes on and hang on a tree like below. This is a beautiful photo op and adorable to watch it fill up with love as the night goes on. This is an easy and fun option for a DIY bride, too!
If your wedding has a theme, incorporate that into the guest book. If you are having a beach or destination wedding, have your guests write on white sea shells and put them in a bowl of sand. Or have a map of the city you are in and have your guests sign right on the map!
Having an outdoor wedding or a rustic theme wedding? This is the most inexpensive guest book around! Using a thinly cut piece of tree trunk, either paint it white or leave au natural. Then have your guests sign it! Have a couple of these so that guests have plenty of room and later you hang them as funky wall art or paint a clear sealer over them and make them into a outdoor bench!
Incorporate something special to you and your fiance into your "guest book". If your love is wine or maybe your wedding is located at a winery...have your guests sign a couple of bottles of wine, These will be a cherished wedding day memory that lasts in your kitchen for years to come.
If the bride or groom are musicians or simply music lovers, have guests sign a guitar to be displayed in their home as a piece of art!
Lastly, this idea is inspired by the Sex and The City movie! Use a book of Love Poems (like Carrie's "Love Letters of Great Men") as your guest book. Guests can find their favorite poem or writer in the book and sign next to it. They can underline certain phrases or write next to a great quote. Put this book on your coffee table after the wedding. It'll work as a great conversation piece as well!
