This week is all about the importance of sending out save-the-dates. A save-the-date is something that you mail out to everyone on your guest list about 6 to 8 months prior to your wedding to announce your wedding and urge your guests to start planning ahead. Jason and I have a lot of family and friends from all over the country, so this was especially important to us. Having so many of our guests spread out made it hard for us to predict who might make the trip. Some of them reached out to us and regretfully said no while others said they wouldn’t miss it for the world. This helped us get a better idea of what our numbers looked like, and they actually dropped a bit. This gave us a chance to reallocate the money we were budgeting for food and beverage to another part of our wedding.
Save-the-dates are also a great way to introduce your guests to the overall feel of your wedding. Including your wedding website is a great way for your guests to see details like where the ceremony and reception will take place, hotel accommodations, and where you are registered. You want your guests to look forward to your wedding with anticipation and excitement, so here are a few different save-the-dates I found on Wedding Paper Divas:
Magnets are great for guests to stick on their refigerator.
If you want something a litte more traditional, opt for a paper card. You can often bundle your save-the-dates with your invitations so they all match.
Postcard invites are also very popular and typically the most affordable option. Most should allow you to include a personal message on the back.
