This week we were lucky enough to mix and mingle with some wonderful brides and grooms at Dubsdread's open house, where couples enjoyed tons of great food and met with various vendors like Lee Forrest Design, Fun Factory Entertainment, wedding filmmakers Imprint Cinema, Party Flavors, and Blades Salon.  We asked brides for three words to describe their dream wedding, and it seems that even more than the latest bridal trends or anything having to do with the look of the wedding, they want to be stress-free, relaxed and to have FUN!  Amen, sisters!  That's what your wedding day should be about.  This is the day you've been working so hard to put together and you should definitely take the time to enjoy it!

Winter Park Bridal Stroll

It's October and that can only mean one thing... Breast Cancer Awareness Month!  WIth this affecting so many women and being such a great cause many women wouldn't mind incorporating it into their wedding in some way. Orlando's I Do Downtown Bridal Crawl

 

    If you're in the Orlando area and are beginning plans for your upcoming wedding, please join us at the first annual I Do Downtown Bridal Crawl in downtown Orlando, FL!  From 12:00pm-5:00pm, nine great venues will be showing off their wedding space, with featured vendors stationed at each locale.  

In one afternoon, find breathtaking venues, alluring accessories, exotic honeymoon destinations, imaginative photographers and videographers, reliable transportation, glorious flowers, dramatic music, and delectable cuisine to sample!

The day begins at the Orange County Regional History Center where you'll receive a map of stops on the bridal crawl and a special wristband, your ticket to explore all that downtown has to ensure your wedding events are everything you could ever have imagined.

For the guys who don't want to join in the bridal crawl, there will be a featured Groom's area at Wall Street Plaza for hanging out and watching football.

No Wedding Gowns for 51 Colorado Brides

    Yikes!  A Ft. Collins, CO bridal shop closed down without notice this month, leaving 51 customers without wedding gowns for their upcoming weddings.  I've heard of this happening before at stores who close without warning, and feel awful for the brides that it affects!  Planning a wedding is stressful enough without worrying whether you will ever see the wedding gown you've already ordered and paid for.  Here in Central Florida, I have seen our amazing bridal community reach out and help brides who encounter situations like these.  Hopefully the Ft. Collins, CO area bridal vendors will do the same and assist these 51 brides in carrying out their wedding planning and attire needs.  Story from the Associated Press below:

FORT COLLINS, Colo. (Aug. 13) -- Police launched an investigation into a Colorado bridal shop that closed and allegedly failed to deliver wedding gowns that were bought and paid for.  Fort Collins police spokeswoman Rita Davis said that as of Tuesday, 51 brides had contacted authorities, saying Mountain Avenue Bridal had failed to provide them with dresses they purchased.

Police and employees of the bridal shop are working with the brides to find an appropriate dress from 50 sample dresses seized from the store, Davis said. Only one bride has taken a dress, while two have chosen veils.

A call Wednesday to a number listed for store owner Patty Burling was unanswered and the voice mailbox was full. The Coloradoan newspaper reported a similar occurrence involving prom dresses at a shop owned by Burling in Glenrock, Wyo., that closed earlier this year.

The Fort Collins bridal shop closed Aug. 4 after losing its lease over unpaid rent, The Coloradoan said.

In a separate story, the Coloradoan interviewed brides who had complaints about the store, including one who has decided to postpone her August wedding until next spring because she didn't receive her $1,700 gown.

Davis said Burling could face charges.

    Exciting things are happening here at Tickled Pink Brides, both personally and professionally!  My husband and I are expecting our first baby, a girl, in mid-July and are anxiously awaiting her arrival!  If you have name suggestions, please send them my way-- it's tough choosing a name for another little person!

Saints & Sinners of the Central Florida Bridal Industry

    Last night we attended the Central Florida Bride publication's "Saints and Sinners" party at the new Heaven Events Center in Orlando.  Half the room was outfitted in white lights, white leather lounge furniture and decor, while the other half was drenched in devilish red.  Most attendees wore either red or white, except for Tracy Marini of Eventfully Yours, and Tommy Murphy of Greenery Productions, who went all out and showed up as a pregnant nun and a cardinal!

    I ran into my fabulous friends from Solutions Bridal, Alicia, Amy, Molly, and Monique.  Such a nice surprise!

    Our E-Events team had a hard time sticking with the theme.  Lisa wore it well, but Jessy and I cheated and showed up in the standard little black dress.

    Wrapping up the night, we crammed ourselves into U Booth's photo booth to get this hilarious set of pictures.  Here are Abby Liga, Amy Morelli, Lisa, Jessy and I acting silly.

Welcome to 2009

Holy Moly, where did December go?  My whirlwind of a month included my birthday, a visit to Charleston, hard work on the house, moving into the house, grandfather's heart surgery, a ski trip to Utah, Christmas, AND a surprise New Year's Eve wedding (Congrats, Randi and Stephen!).  Can you say phew...!?!  What else could we have possibly packed into our crazy December?  Let me just show you.

 

That's right, I've got a bun in the oven.  And it likes to lounge around with its legs crossed.  For those of you to whom this comes as a surprise, SURPRISE!!  At 12 weeks, I'm feeling good and my energy is increasing again, thank goodness!  I sure don't have time to take it easy.

Really... how much more could one fit into a month?  Hence, Tickled Pink Brides has been MIA for the holidays but I hope to be back with a vengeance shortly.  Thanks for continually checking the blog and Happy New Year!
